Embrace the Silence & GraceFull Tuesday Link-Up

Happy Holy Tuesday, friends! Last week I was sick so I totally missed the link-up. But this week we are back and I am looking forward to reading all that you have posted and linked up.

Embrace the Silence

Here in Finland, we know the Holy Week better as the Silent Week. And somehow, that seems so fitting for this week. As we walk towards the Calvary, knowing the broken and hard road that Christ took — it seems only appropriate to quiet before Him. To embrace that silence it instills in our hearts.

But embracing the silence? Isn’t as easy as it sounds. The news declare war and injustice loudly. Social media is always there, always present. We are mindful of all the TV shows we need to watch and the books we need to read. Or maybe we have kids and people around us all the time so silence just doesn’t happen that often.

Yet we benefit from the silence. I love how Psalm 62 so beautifully puts it,

“Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.”
(Psalm 62:5 NLT)

Sometimes it might take a lot of effort to look for hope, to look for those silent moments. But wherever we are, God will meet us. He knows our hearts, and He knows us. Even more so, He understands us and He longs to be with us. But for us to be able to hear Him, to hear His voice? We need to quiet down, and wait for Him.

This Tuesday, the Holy Tuesday — seems just the right time to quiet down and wait for Him. To let go and surrender to this moment of silence, and wait expectantly for Him. As we embrace the silence, I pray that we hear His voice and feel His heart. I pray that we feel as if we finally found our home and returned to where we belong.

“For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”” (Isaiah 30:15)

What can you do this week to quiet down and embrace the silence?

  3. Love the idea of a quiet week! You know, God must be telling me something because everything I read both online and in my devotions speaks about the value of silence! I wonder why most of us avoid it so?
