for the days when you feel worthless
“Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you” (Isaiah 43:3)
Some days it is just plain difficult to believe you are worth anything at all. It is a battlefield right there, this seemingly never-ending war to fight, and all these years of fighting have left you scarred. You get tired before you even begin. You get weary just from knowing that today is going to be one more day of the same battle. And I know, there is a heart bleeding pain right there in you — this need to be and all the crushing shame and hurt from knowing that you are not.
But I want to tell you — of this love that stands forever and never ends. I want to tell you of this love that comes with bright shining glory, that washes clean and redeems, that sees you and says, “I love you.”
You see, you will never be good enough — and that is good news, because none of us is. So you can choose to let go now, of that need to earn your worth, and believe your Creator when He tells you that you are precious, that His love deems you worthy and whispers, “beloved one.” You can choose to let this glorious grace get really loud and drown the noise of doubt in your heart. You are loved.
“See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.” (Isaiah 49:16)
Do you see, precious one? Can you see His scarred hands, reaching for you — and yes, you are right there, inscribed on the palms of His hands in those scars? He carried you when those nails pierced His hands. He carried you with Him through the worst that there ever is, so that you can be forever washed white.
This beautiful grace washed away your sin and all your darkness. He is beckoning you to come to Him now, to let those scarred hands cup that hurting heart of yours — and know this. He knows your hurt. It is by His stripes that we are healed, that we are made whole. So let Him take hold of your hand; let Him bind that hurting heart, that wounded soul of yours. Those scarred hands, they carried pain and shame and sorrow. But He carried it all willingly.
Do you hear Him now, those whispers of His vast love for you? Can you feel Him, weaving His gentle grace into your soul? Do you see the bright shining glory of the cross, of His tender hands reaching out to carry you? It is for you. Never doubt that.
“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
I know that it will still make you cry day after day, fighting this battle and struggling to make it through. But know that you are not alone. Know that you are loved. And see, I know your Creator and He is beautiful — so you must be too.
The light will come.
