Only Believe

“As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” (Mark‬ ‭5:36‬)

This is a verse that I keep gravitating towards time and time again. In this world there is confusion and darkness. There is hatred, sin, sorrow, and death. We go through seasons of hardships and struggle, of sorrow, despair and fear. Maybe this is a season of busyness or adapting to new things. Summer comes with so much light; yet weariness come even though there is light. Tiredness can linger even in those bright corners. Fears raise their head and crash loudly into the walls of your heart.

But the words of Jesus echo right there — right here: do not be afraid. Only believe.

Believe that God is good in every season of life. Maybe this is the season of suffering but remember, your suffering has purpose. God only wants the best for you, and sometimes you best grow through trials and hardships.

Believe that God is more powerful than any raging storm. He can bring light to darkness. He is there to give strength to the weak and weary, help to the broken and poor. God sees you. He also knows you; He knows your heart and what you need.

Believe that grace is always greater. Grace is always greater.

  1. This is so spot on. I was listening to an old Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey podcast recently. She was chatting with Raechel Myers from She Reads Truth, and Raechel was talking about God’s faithfulness. She explained how she learned (through her hard, hard circumstances) that God’s faithfulness is not dependent upon circumstances. He is faithful when things are great and when things are hard. He doesn’t change when our circumstances change. It was so encouraging to remember that He is constant, even in those hard places. Knowing we have a God that never changes is amazing to hold onto!

    1. Yes! That is such an amazing promise and a comfort to know that God is constant, no matter what. Thank you for stopping by here again, Rebecca, and blessing me with this!

  2. What a beautiful reminder! I love how powerful your posts are. You have a gift for speaking truth!
