On Mondays during this Advent season, we will focus on praying and setting our hearts right for the week.
Whatever the barrenness of yours is, beloved, do not be afraid. Your prayer is heard, those whispered prayers held in the hands that created you. You can let go now, trust that our Lord is able to make all things new — whether it means creating a new life completely or making a battered heart able to stand strong in the mighty winds.
Let your soul breathe today, beloved. Because even in the darkest of times, when our hopes and dreams are but a whisper in the night anymore — our God hears. Our frozen dreams, our barren years and stump-like souls, they are all seen by the One who loves and provides; by the Maker of the sun and moon, the Maker of our earth. Walk in confidence, beloved, your sins laid out and your soul poured out like and drink offering, all of us out so that we can get all of Him in.
Behold, the days are coming — and they come when we let in the glorious light of the world, one that shines so bright it reaches every spot of our heart. That is when we see the heir of David, when we feel of the Branch of righteousness touch the depths of our soul and forth springs hope, rooted in love divine and grace unfolding. Only when we reach upwards, we let this translucent hope spread out and illuminate our hearts like candles on the cold winter nights. Because in those days and at that time, the heart that created ours, broke for our disobedience and in the math of this scandalous love story, one broken heart heals the hearts of humanity.
