restored light

where exhaustion & joy meet

For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15)

My friend, I have been thinking about how to write about this place I have been, that I pushed myself into over the past few weeks. How to tell you about this place of hopelessness where the darkness takes over by stealing the light bit by bit — because you allow it to. You see, my friend, I was walking through a path of exhaustion and pushing myself beyond my limits, time and time again as the work never seemed to end or decrease. As it turns out, I cannot handle working 55 hours every week without eating or sleeping properly. Even more so, without stopping to rest in Him.

The thing is, there are no words here right now. Nothing worth telling about the darkness of my heart, of the bits of this world that have been overwhelming me these weeks. What is worth sharing, though, are these words that restored the light into the midst of my darkness — these words on my heart, to encourage and to comfort.

“Please, look to Me, My beloved child. Look to Me.

Come back to Me, now, My child. I am right here, here by your side. Just look to Me, and all will be well, My child. Trust Me, trust Me to handle everything for you. I will do just that. I will take care of you. Trust Me to be there for you and with you — and you will see how everything will fall into place and you shall succeed. And it’s not about whether you succeed or not, My child. It’s about listening to My voice that will guide you. I will tell you what to do, My child. You just need to obey and trust that I only want the best for you in everything.

I love you, My dear child. Never doubt that. Now go, and be blessed.”

“He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.” (Isaiah 30:19b)

So know this, beloved: He loves you more than you could know. He loves you more than you could ever have dreamed of, and His love will never let go of you.

Absolutely beautiful. He is there. He will make it work out. Whether it is what we envision as success or His version, it will be okay and it will be good. I am sooooooo thankful we were neighbors this week at #DancewithJesus. I have been blessed by your words. Please know I am praying for the darkness to disappear, for your mind to ease, for your body and soul to recover from the overuse, and for joy to surround you! Blessings and smiles, Lori

Ronja, Thanks so much for risking the vulnerability of sharing the truth of your story today as well as the truth of His message in the midst of the darkness. It is refreshing, not because you have been in this place, but because you were honest enough to admit it here when so much of what we write sounds as if we are always well. God bless you richly, my sister. You are His lamb and He will always come looking for you and show you the path out of the darkness and wrap His arms around you and carry you when you are too weary to walk yourself. Love and respect, my sister! Pam

Pam, thank you so much for these kind words! That is so true -- we often write about the things that make it sounds as if everything is well (I do this myself, as well). Thank you for your grace in my vulnerability, and for this encouragement to be vulnerable still. Thank you.

Thank you, Ronja. I've had some dark days lately, too. And while I do my best to slog through them, there is nothing better than holding on to the *solid rock* of God and His Word. GOD BLESS!
