walking through the advent together: day 14
And Mary said:
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me,
And holy is His name.
And His mercy is on those who fear Him
From generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm;
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
And exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
And the rich He has sent away empty.
He has helped His servant Israel,
In remembrance of His mercy,
As He spoke to our fathers,
To Abraham and to his seed forever.”
And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her house. (Luke 1:46-56)
It is weekend, now, beloved — time to breathe, time to stop, time to spend time with our Lord. And there is no better way for us to do that than to join here, join the song of Mary and praise our Lord Jesus, who has exalted us lowly, who has filled our hungry souls with good things, who has helped us hopeless and lifted up us weary ones. We sinners with a heavy past and with a heavy heart, allowed to come to the Holy One, knowing that He who is mighty has done great things for us, will do great things for us.
Unto us a Child is given, unto us a Child is born — Christ our Lord reigning forevermore. Truly, the Light of the world given to us, that the darkness might not trap us anymore. So now, here, let us magnify the Lord — God with us, Immanuel, God our Savior.
